Poetic. Secluded. Zanzibar
Mikoko Villa is a real holiday home envisioned, designed and built by Raphael and Liza, who have been coming to Zanzibar for over a decade. It captures the poetry of old Zanzibar, elegance and functionality of tropical modernism, personal style of its owners. Mikoko feels like home, where you can set the rhythm of your stay.
The villa is spacious, airy, open. The wind moves freely, the view is infinite, the soundtrack is performed by dozens of coconut trees and waves crashing against the reef. Local fishermen and female seaweed farmers are your only onlookers and here you will be left in peace. With views stretching from horizon to horizon, and devoid of light pollution, Mikoko will keep you connected to what's important.

For those eager to move, Mikoko has a yoga platform/outdoor gym with weight training equipment, pull-up bar, boxing equipment and TRX suspension system. Just do it with the jungle, monkeys and exotic birds in the background.
To make it even better, we can organise boxing classes with a professional boxer and private yoga sessions.

Four kilometers south of Jambiani, Mikoko rises from a wild coastline with visible coral reefs that are millions of years old. The beach evolves with the changing tides, revealing coral rocks, sand bars, and lunar-like banks for exploring on foot. The lagoon on the Indian Ocean's south east coast is spectacularly turquoise and is among the world's most beautiful.
On the other side, the surroundings change to green, lush and alive with the sounds of exotic birds. Don't be surprised if you see monkeys too.
The owners chose this land for its location, dozens of coconut trees and unique salt water fern grove, locally called "mikoko". It's the part of Zanzibar they are proud to preserve.
In case you feel lonely, Mikoko Villa is a short taxi ride from the bustling villages of Jambiani and Paje in the north, as well as the more authentic Makunduchi and Kizimkazi in the south, known as the gateway to sailing among magnificent sandbanks, uninhabited islands and dolphins.

A five year project
Design. Craftsmanship. Art
Mikoko Villa came out of genuine love for Zanzibar, obsession with great design and fascination with tradition and craftsmanship.
Mikoko is personal and was built to last. The villa's modernist lines, Tingatinga art, antique Zanzibar doors, hand carved furniture, terrazzo surfaces and hundreds of square meters of hand applied traditional lime plaster tell an interesting story.
Don't skip the food
In-house chef is the difference
One of the luxuries of staying in Mikoko is not having to look for restaurants that will not disappoint. Everything made in-house just tastes better.
The chef is passionate, creative and very eager to please. The ingredients are seasonal and dependent on the ocean. The service is top-notch and attention to detail is genuine.
Have the famous fish samosa, tuna tartar, Indian meatballs and coconut lime sorbet.
